Doniphan Library has a genealogy collection with books, magazines, high school annuals and microfilm. We have a microfilm reader with a 24″ screen. Naylor Library also has a genealogy collection with books and high school annuals.
The microfilm collection at Doniphan includes the Prospect News 1874-2011 with current newspapers also available. Other microfilmed newspapers are: Ripley County Democrat 1905-1918, The Republican 1915-1938, Ozark Graphic 1974-1986.
We have microfilm of county records: births, deaths, marriages, deeds, wills, probate records and court dockets. We also have microfilm of the original federal census records (handwritten) from 1850-1920. Census records are also available on HeritageQuest.
Both libraries also have access to HeritageQuest which is a comprehensive database of American genealogical sources—rich in unique primary sources, local and family histories, and finding aids. It delivers an essential collection of genealogical and historical sources—with coverage dating back to the 1700s.
